Privacy Policy
LEVIATHAN is a location-based game. This page explains what it collects, why, and how to delete it. The short version: your exact location stays on your phone, nothing is sold, and there are no ads or trackers.
Your location
- The game uses your GPS position on your device to place monsters, shrines and bosses on the streets around you, and to count the distance you walk. That position stays in the save on your phone.
- Your exact location is never sent to us. The cloud copy of a save has the coordinates removed before it is uploaded, and the server strips them again if a client tries to send them.
- If you are signed in, the game reports which roughly 1 km grid square you are in, about every minute, so other players can see a count of "hunters nearby" and so a crewmate can be told they are hunting with you. Other players only ever see a number, or a yes/no that someone in the crew is in the same square. They never see you, your square, or a pin. We keep only your most recent square, and it is deleted with your account.
- Crew calls ("I'm here", "on my way", "raid now", and the rest) send the district or town name only. They do not send a coordinate, and nothing is drawn on anyone else's map.
- Looking up parks and landmarks for your town sends a rounded box a few miles wide to OpenStreetMap, not your exact spot.
- Location is used only while the game is open. It is not tracked in the background.
Camera
The optional AR view shows your camera feed behind the monsters. The video stays on your device. Nothing is recorded, saved or uploaded.
Accounts (optional)
You can play without an account. If you create one, we store:
- Your email address and password (the password is stored hashed by our authentication provider) so you can sign in.
- Your game save (character, items, progress) so it follows you between devices.
- Your raid damage, recorded with your character name, to share out raid rewards.
Public to other players: your character name, class, level, distance walked and bestiary count on the leaderboard, and your character name and damage on a raid's damage board. Your email is never shown.
Services we use
- Supabase stores accounts and game data.
- Netlify hosts the web version.
- CARTO and OpenStreetMap serve the map. A lookup for parks and paths sends a rounded box a few miles wide, not your exact location. Like any website, they receive your IP address when your device downloads tiles or answers that lookup. Google Fonts serves the game's fonts and likewise sees your IP address.
We do not sell or share your data for advertising. There are no ads, no analytics SDKs and no cross-app tracking.
Deleting your data
- In the game: Account (☁ button) → Delete Account. This immediately and permanently erases your login, cloud save, presence and raid record.
- On your device: uninstalling the app (or clearing the site's data in your browser) removes the local save.
- You can also ask us to delete your data by email (below).
Children
LEVIATHAN is a horror-themed game that is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
